Outside SEC resources

Updated: May 4

The statements and numbers provided in SEC documents provide key information but they don't contain everything, here a few resources to lookout at outside SEC documents.

Earning Calls: A valuable resource to report on companies is their quarterly earnings calls for investors. Although it isn’t required for every public company to hold these calls, many do to explain the company’s position and outlook on its recent performance.

These calls are good opportunities to get quotes and direct insight from high-ranking officials that normally don’t get shared by the company’s public relations team.

To find out if a company holds earnings calls check the company’s website or reach out directly to the company.

Outside Analysts:

Many people are interested in the performance of stocks and companies and look to outside analysts and their reports to get insight beyond the information provided in public documents. These reports can be useful tool for reporting and getting outside voices in a story.

There are a few different ways to get analysts report. There are platforms like Morningstar, MarketWatch, S&P Global Market Intelligence that charge for access to their information, so if you don't mind paying these websites can be a great resource.

Some companies also list analysts on their investor relations websites so you can always check to see these websites. For example Caesars Entertainment has a page that lists over 15 analysts from different firms including Duetsche Bank, J.P. Morgan and Wells Fargo.
